The Assam State Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India expresses its profound grief and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dr Ranjib Rongpi, on the 23rd March 2026, an eminent surgeon and a respected pillar of the surgical fraternity of Assam.
Dr Rongpi, who has served in various Medical Colleges in Assam and most recently served as the Acting Head of Department of Surgery at Diphu Medical College and Hospital, was widely admired for his clinical acumen, unwavering dedication to patient care, and his quiet yet firm leadership. His contributions to the growth of surgical services in the region, particularly in underserved areas, stand as a testament to a life devoted to healing and service.
Beyond his professional excellence, Dr. Rongpi was known for his humility, compassion, and mentorship.
A condolence message from the Association was handed to the bereaved family yesterday evening. It was presented by Dr. Partha Pratim Das, Chairman, and Vice Chairman Dr. Rocket Chandra Brahma and Vice Chairman Dr. Rupnayan Goswami, and Dr. Siddhartha Phukan, who reflected on Dr. Rongpi’s invaluable contributions and the irreplaceable void his passing has left behind.
We pray that his soul rests in eternal peace and extend our deepest sympathies to his family, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. Also in the frame is his wife and son, and twin brother and family member.
