Assam Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) celebrated Surgeons’ Day

The Dibrugarh Branch of the Assam Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) celebrated Surgeons’ Day on 15 June 2026 with a series of community-oriented and health-promoting activities aimed at enhancing public awareness and promoting the well-being of healthcare professionals.

The day’s program commenced with a Surgeon’s Health Checkup Camp. Recognizing the importance of surgeons well-being, a Surgeons’ Health Check-up Program was conducted for members of the surgical fraternity. The health assessment included routine clinical evaluations and screening tests aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and encouraging surgeons to prioritize their own health while continuing to serve the community. CBC, RBS, S.Creatinine, LFT, Lipid profile were the main components of the investigations done free.

A Breast Cancer Awareness Program was organized to educate the office staff of AMCH and the general public about the importance of early detection and timely treatment of breast cancer. The program included awareness talks by surgeons and healthcare experts, demonstrations on breast self-examination, and interactive sessions addressing common misconceptions regarding breast cancer. Prof. Jishan Ahmed , the resource person, was the chief architect in making this program a success Educational materials were also distributed among the participants.

Dr Uttam Konwar and Dr Chandan Jyoti Mishra encouraged the post graduates and students to donate blood by setting an example themselves.
The celebration reflected the commitment of the Dibrugarh Branch of ASI towards community service, public health education, and the welfare of healthcare professionals. The event was well attended and appreciated by participants, reaffirming the role of surgeons not only as healthcare providers but also as advocates for public health and social responsibility.
